Meet general eligibility

Be at least 18 years old and hold a high school diploma or GED.

Complete the 90 hour broker pre-licensing course 

Successfully complete an approved 90 clock-hour Pre-Licensing course.

Pass the Indiana license exam 

Schedule and pass both the State and National portions via Pearson Vue.

Choose a sponsoring brokerage

Partner with an Indiana managing broker who will help activate your license and guide you through joining the appropriate local, state, and national real estate associations.

To maintain an active real estate broker license in Indiana, the Indiana Real Estate Commission (IREC) and the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (IPLA) require all active brokers to complete continuing education coursework.

New Licensees: 

Newly licensed brokers are required to complete the mandatory 30-Hour Post-Licensing Education (PLE) course within their first 2 years of licensure instead of standard CE.

36 Hours Every 3-Year Cycle:

Indiana real estate licenses operate on a 3-year renewal cycle. During each 3-year licensing period, active brokers must complete a total of 36 hours of approved continuing education.

12 Hours Required Each Year: 

The 36-hour total cannot be completed all at once at the end of the 3 years. You must complete at least 12 hours of CE each licensing year (July 1st through June 30th).

Managing Broker Requirements: 

Managing brokers must complete 12 hours of CE each year, with at least 4 of those hours dedicated to managing broker-specific topics.
