To maintain an active real estate license in Kentucky, the Kentucky Real Estate Commission (KREC) requires all active licensees to complete continuing education coursework.
Newly licensed agents are required to complete the mandatory 48-Hour Post-Licensing Education (PLE) course within their first 2 years of licensure instead of standard CE.
Kentucky real estate licenses operate on a 2-year renewal cycle. During each 2-year licensing period, agents must complete a total of 12 hours of approved continuing education.
The 12-hour total cannot be completed all at once at the end of the 2 years. You must complete at least 6 hours of CE by December 31st every calendar year. 3 hours must be in real estate law and 3 hours of electives. Courses may not be repeated within the 2-year cycle.
Kentucky requires a Kentucky Core course every 4 years and no other courses will substitute for the Kentucky Core.
