90 Hour pre-licensing course
Kendall Brown, Realtor®
At Wohrle Real Estate School, nothing makes us prouder than seeing our students turn their classroom hours into career milestones. Today, we are thrilled to celebrate Kendall Brown, a Wohrle Real Estate School alum who was recently named the Southern Indiana Realtors® Association's (SIRA) Rookie of the Year.
This prestigious honor is reserved for new real estate agents who demonstrate exceptional hard work, dedication, and a true passion for the industry. We sat down with Kendall to talk about her transition from a college athlete to an award-winning Realtor®.
Wohrle School: What made you decide to pursue real estate, and what were your expectations going into your first year?
Kendall: I’ve always been interested in homes and design. When I was younger, my grandmother and I were constantly rearranging furniture or shopping for décor to make a space feel different. I originally considered architecture or interior design, but I ultimately chose to study sales and marketing and earn my real estate license. Going into my first year, I didn't know what to expect, it felt more like a foundation-building year than a full launch.
Wohrle School: What were the biggest challenges you faced as a new agent?
Kendall: Balancing everything at once—finishing my degree, playing college softball, and starting a career. It was overwhelming. Because I’m younger, many of my friends aren’t ready to buy yet, so all of my closings have come from referrals, social media, and working a lot of open houses. Early on, it’s hard because you’re still figuring out your own systems and processes.
Wohrle School: Which daily habits contributed most to your success?
Kendall: Going into the office. You hear conversations and see real-life situations unfold that you would never pick up working from home. Being in the office gives me a sense of purpose and accountability. I also rely heavily on a daily to-do list and an online calendar to track every transaction deadline.
Wohrle School: Can you share a major "learning moment" from your first year?
Kendall: I learned the importance of setting boundaries. You are there to guide your clients, but if someone doesn't respect your time, it’s okay to set limits. Being available is important, but being on the phone at 3:00 a.m. with a difficult client isn't healthy!
Wohrle School: What role did education and mentorship play in your development?
Kendall: I’m very thankful I found an online real estate course [at Wohrle Real Estate School] that allowed me to work at my own pace from home. Through my brokerage, I have access to incredible mentors who have guided me through so many new situations.
Wohrle School: If you could go back to Day One, what advice would you give yourself?
Kendall: Prioritize that daily to-do list, be more direct with people about what you do, and don’t be afraid to ask for business.
A Support System: Find a brokerage and mentors who will answer your questions.
Persistence: Success comes from open houses and social media when your "sphere" isn't ready to buy yet.
The Right Foundation: Starting with a flexible, comprehensive education allows you to build your business while managing your life.
Congratulations, Kendall! Your Wohrle Real Estate School family is rooting for you as you continue to make waves in Southern Indiana.
